We were lucky enough on Friday to get our grocery shopping done... as to not have to do it during the weekend...
Jeromy got off early on Friday and Colten was able to go to a friends house for a few hours so we could be down one kid for the trip. (Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Kellie!) I'm sure you're thinkin... why doesn't she get the grocery shopppin done during the week on her own... well lets face it.. I've braved it a few times on my own with the boys.... and when I was done I asked myself.... why in the world did you just torture yourself??? Life is too short to experience that much misery in one short visit to the grocery store.... So we do it together as a family... that way one parent can remove any unruly children from the store if necessary....
Shopping went well and quick... 3 stops later, a stop and Petco for 20 goldfish, and a stop for Blizzards at DQ we headed home....
20 Goldfish you might ask???? well we have two cows in the lower field at our place... and they drink water from an old bathtub.... well this here bathtub is full of mosquito larva...ewwwww so something had to be done... nothing a few...well 20 goldfish cant help with... Pretty fun too... Colten insisted he put his hand in the bag to try and grab the little fishes before we dumped them in.
The rest of Friday is all a blur... Shed buildin, dinner, bath time, bedtime.... you know the usual stuff
Saturday morning consisted of compost bin building...(YES FINALLY)
Yes I'm lazy this shot was taken from my desk inside... haha
Garden weeding....ughhhhh they are taking over - While Ben was napping I picked as fast as I could.... knowing that as soon as that little turkey woke up weed picking would be NO MORE....after picking for more than an hour Ben woke up and joined me in the dirt....he was trying to be helpful until he... knocked over a full wheel barrow on the the poor beets... after about 15 minutes of mom picking a weed then grabbing Ben so he didn't pull out our planted food... we headed in to bathe the garden covered little elf...
Calendula is so pretty... Love how my foot snuck into this shot...
Was totally excited to spot some green tomatoes.... was begining to think I'd totally failed in the tomato department...
Pretty sure I'm not winning any awards with this baby...
Colten agrees... check out them cabbages... their beautiful
This was followed by lunch.... I by chance had seen an Email from Finn Fiver the night before and found out that they had U-Pick open for ORGANIC Blueberries..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH so needless to say that's where we would spend our afternoon picking enormous blueberries from a 2 acre patch of bushes. Amazingly PLUMP and delicious were these berries.... ughhh mom was in blueberry Heaven for sure.... as I picked I was droolin over all the delicious things I would make in my tiny little kitchen...mmmm
So U-pick is not a normal occurrence at Finn River.... I'm guessing they just had a really fantastic crop this year and needed some help clearing out some of the bounty....
NO PROBLEM.... We'll gladly help you out...
makes it pretty wonderful to drive a couple miles down the road to pick Organic Berries.... and to think I was pretty devastated that I hadn't made it the 35 minutes out to Grey Marsh in Sequim to pick.... teh hehe! Oh and if you haven't been to Finn River it's totally worth a quick drop by... Jeromy and I tested some ciders... (good sport Jer) and he actually liked a couple of them.... thanks to the extremely sweet girl helpin us.... she informed him that Cider was a thing of it's own... not to be compared to wine at all! Thank you Thank you because he was actually willing to try after hearing that.... and home came a bottle of Dry Hopped Cider.... So fun now to be able to run down the road.... support a local farm and bring home wonderful Cider for any occasion.... like Tuesdays... hahaha
So cool tooo the batch number is hand written and you can go to their website and read about your batch's story... Cool Beans
*Just a little something.... Jeromy always proof reads my posts and when he saw that I said "Cool Beans" he told me that earlier when he was playin Legos with Colten... He said Cool Beans and Colten said, "No Papa, they're Legos!" HAHAHA I so had to share.
It's Sunday now and writing this has made we realize that I have a whole TON of blueberries to flash freeze and bag... ahhh I better get to it.
Thanks for the help buddy....
Ok now that's done...
Yeah mom's not really sure how she feels about this...
Unhappy that he's been kicked out of the kitchen.... sorry buddy mama's just sooo tired of putting everything away that you pull out....
See what happens when mama gives in and lets him in the kitchen for a few minutes... ughhhhhh!
He's walking more and more...
There's somethin on my hand mama...
"Buuuuu" which means Bug... haha
Ahhhh Sunday morning..... Blueberry pancakes were on the menu OF COURSE
Mmmmm... Thanks Papa
We've really enjoyed the "Hayin" that's been going on across the street all week... here's what the field looks like right now.... all full of bails...
Next the boys and I headed down the hill to visit Lula and Two (The cows that have been stayin with us for the past month)
We just love these cows and will be soooo sad when they leave.... Here's a sweet shot of Lula girl...
Lula is pregnant for the first time... look at that belly :)
Mmmmm Thanks Colten....
So cute...
I guess "Two" just wasn't that interested in having his photo taken... normally the two of them come running to the fence when we go down there... "Two" must be feelin a little down and depressed that the sun isn't shinning... he just laid in the corner of the pasture lookin at us.
Here's our little "Bunny" house we've been building... we are constantly adding things to make the "bunnys" more at home... (fyi - no bunnys live in there... it's just for fun)
Oh man.... Blackberry Heaven... We are going to be busy pickers soon...
Sorry but this is the coolest picture EVA... love how there's one perfectly ripe berry right in the center... like here's a teaser berry...
Taking the boys for a walk... both were antsy and Papa was busy workin on the woodshed...
There's both of our cow friends...
Man that's a lot of hay...
Upon returning from our walk we caught Papa on top of the shed almost finished with the roof.... YEAH he made great progress this weekend... GOOD WORK Jer...
Ben loves Buddy sooo much... Everytime he sees him he gives him loves...
So now the whole house is taking a nap...
All I can smell is the Garlic, Ginger, Orange pork roast cookin away... Can't wait to have a glass of our Cider with dinner and some blueberry buckle for dessert...mmm
Dinner was delish... Cider was amazing
Hope you had a good weekend as well.
