An adventure turning 7!

Continuing with our birthday adventures... we planned a camping trip for Colten's 7th birthday!  It also happened to be the maiden voyage of our new little camping trailer...
She's in such great shape for being used, we aren't really sure it was ever camped in!
Ok so back to the adventure....
We knew amazing weather was here to stay so we headed for the coast!
We stopped in at a couple campgrounds just to take a look and ended up at Mora campground out near La Push.  Amazing weather and a ton of sights to choose from!  (The beauty of being able to leave for a camping trip Thursday evening)

"It's his birfday!"

Yep it's my birthday weekend!  and this trip is to celebrate ME!

The gorgeous Lake Cresent!

Who takes fresh basil camping?  I do!  What, she was gonna die at home! :)
Besides Colten requested spaghetti for his birthday dinner!

She's just the sweetest!

These little biking maniacs had two whole loops of campsites to ride through...

After a trip up the road to Kalaoch Beach we were elated to find out that reservations didn't start for another couple days so the entire place was first come first serve!!!! We had to move! This was a once in million!  Once reservations start you cant get a site unless you booked the previous year... at least that's how it feels!  We stayed in site F7 which by the way was the most amazing site ever!!  Tons of privacy, next to a secluded super secret squirrel path to the beach and the sound of the ocean blaring in the background!

Lego Building!  Not recommended for camping!
Jeromy and I were on the ground more than once looking for pieces that were dropped!

Papa's still building but Colten's moved on to marshmallows!

I think we'll roast fruit next time... holy sugar rush..batman!

our magical secret trail

Our campsite was complete with a collection of shells, sand dollars and feathers!

Don't look to excited...

A wee bit foggy ahh

I'll say!

Welcome to the coast...
While my garden roasts in the the sweltering heat at home... we are HERE in our jackets in the FOG!
It's ok!  I'll take an adventure with these guys in any weather!

Baby razor clams

Tons of baby razor clams!

Whoa cool!  Those are it's feet!

No you can't eat sand dollars..

It's so furry!

It's so rare to find live ones.. before the birds get them!

Fun showing the boys the special little birds on the inside of a dead sand dollar!

Arrrrr!

After playing on the beach we headed back to camp so I could bake a cake... yes I baked a cake!  It still seems surreal!  The campsite smelled of gluten free chocolate cake...
Break time... for lunch - Colten requested Hot dogs and trail mix!

Maddie's not sure about camping... she's not sure why it's ok for strangers to be in the next campsite over and why random people keep walking by!  She was on full alert!

After lunch me and this birthday boy walked to the little store near the lodge and bought ice cream for our celebration!  What fun we had racing on the trail and talking about life!

Make a wish!

What a lucky kid... right!

Maddie's a party animal!

ahhh my special place!
curled up with a good book!

Our campsite's special trail had a perfect beach lookout...
Colten and I caught the sunset after cake and ice cream!

While the boys attacked some drift wood they collected on the beach...
Boys....

Here's the bushes across from our site that Jeromy and I came to know real well.... the boys had little foam planes and we spent much of our weekend fishing them out of this bush!
We must have been quite the sight... bodies on the ground half in the bush half in the road...things you do for your kids...geeesh!
All packed up and headed down the road to Ruby beach...

Stunning!

Bloody nose... poor kid!

Peek-a-boo there's our trailer up there!

Cool shot! Kleenex stuffed in the nostril and all!

We built sandcastles, collected treasure, examined tide pools, Maddie wanted to chew on a German Shepard, and we all enjoyed the company of one another with this picturesque backdrop.

It was another amazing weekend in the Pacific Northwest.
It was another memory filled Birthday for our super tall, silly, super smart, soccer loving, lego building, book reading, race car loving, veggie eating, cuddle bug, "I never want to go to bed!" SEVEN year old!
His "Golden" birthday was pretty Golden!

Love you Colten!

To the moon little man!  I won't be saying that for long...
I'm pretty sure he's going to pass me up by 10!
