Saturday was spent celebrating yet another 1st Birthday... sooo fun! Another mommy survived the first year... haha Colten enjoyed stuffing his face with birthday cake... then proceeded to be a complete maniac the rest of the afternoon...
Sunday was filled with inside and outside chores... oh fun...
Well I was given the "mowing" chore... so the baby was strapped to my back and I mowed what felt like a 10 acre parcel.. Mowing is my husbands sacred chore, so the fact that he was "letting" me do it was a complete shock, and to be honest I actually enjoy mowing... Gives you time to think with no babies/kids whining... well they might be whining but you can't hear them over the sound of the mower. I actually thought about ideas for blog posts... haha I'm sooo loving being a blogger... is that my official title... it sounds a little to close to booger doesn't it... oh maybe that's just the mom in me...
So after peeling the baby off my back... (great visual right?) Next task was weed whacking and there's no way that was happening with a baby on my back... Well I got about 4 1/2 weeds "whacked" before Ben said it was time for lunch... story of my life I guess...
After lunch Ben went down for a nap and Colten and I did some rock painting....
Mine were for the garden to be used as crop markers....
Colten's were well I'm not sure what Colten's were for... but he needed to paint some rocks too.
He can be such a ham sometimes...
The giant rock at the enterance to "Colten's Garden"
I was also able to work on the sign for the bean tent...
That evening after testing out a new fajita recipe... (a must share for sure) we headed out for a little family walk to the mailbox... even though it was "Sunday" haha
Do we really live here.... kinda makes you say "Ahhhh"
Rhodys... so pretty but what a mess they make!
A boy and his dog... wait is Buddy stalking him? haha
Stylin..
Monday turned out to be our best weather day... it also turned out to be our "Season Opener" for hiking... yipee finally..
I've been waiting for this day for soooo long. Hiking isn't exactly a pregnant lady sport so I had to sit last season out.
Our season opener has always been the same place... a beautiful waterfall called Murhutt Falls.
After what felt like an eternity packing lunch and all the stuff you pack and never need... we headed out.
The weather couldn't have been more beautiful... 66 and climbing.
Our first stop, because it was kind of on the way was another waterfall.... Rocky Brook
All ready to go... shades and all... oh and we musn't for get our backpack full of "Stuff" (and yes musn't is a word.. I use it all the time... haha)
Wow he held still for a picture with Mom.. thanks buddy
"What mom, I've gotta go check out that water"
Whoa
It was just a ragin... gotta love spring time...
Who says you need someone there to take your family shots... ok I do.. this was the 5th shot.. you know of Jeromy running back and forth and us making ridiculous noises to get the baby to look in the right direction and us counting the red light that flashes... then you get kind of lucky and get one good shot. Come on Ben... you couldn't look up just once?
Next we were off to the real hike... after mistaking what road it was on... oh did I just say that? haha love you Jeromy we headed in the right direction. Colten ate almost everything I had packed on the way... hope he doesn't get hungry for the ride home... gosh kid you're gonna have to get a part time job to help pay for food... really I'm not joking here.
This was taken April 11th 2010 - Awww lil Colten... Wow looks chilly

So this is April 7th 2012 - Aww how my family has grown...
Thank goodness for sunshine and happy babies..
The trail-blazer... So cute... I remember being the same way when I was little
Ben showing his excitement for his first hike...
Just gorgeous..
Me and my little hiking buddy
So Colten April 2010
Benjamin April 2012
And this one... well it's just hilarious
Please, just stop walking when you look through those buddy...
Another timer shot... hey maybe we're getting better at this.... this only took 3 runs back and forth... and every ones actually looking in the right direction... good job family.
And the weekend wrapped up with a trip to the hardware store in Papa's (Jeromy's) truck to buy lumber for Colten's new bed...
And......
Yep... yet another batch of MY almost perfected signature cookies... I tried something a little different and although they were still super yummy I don't think I'll go with the change. Stay tuned for the recipe... I may have even picked out a name... although I'll be open for suggestions after I post the recipe.
Ok so there you have it... another weekend at the Larsen's... give or take a few meltdowns, slug stomping, wasp killing, weed pulling, brothers fighting, neglected laundry, couch cushion cleaning, neighbor chatting, fishing soggy dandelions out of a babies mouth, deer chasing- oh man those garden invaders are gonna get it......
You pretty much got the gist... We're just lov'in life the best we know how.....
Together
