Weekend Rewind - Fourth Weekend in August

Well quite the weekend of hard work, sweat and sore muscles....

Saturday:

Much progress was made.... Wood pile is really shrinkin and the stacked wood (in the nearly finished shed) growin.

Family weed pickin in the garden proved to be quite productive... it looks fantastic out there....  haha yeah for the first time this growin season...  oh well the weeds just make it all the more "Organic" right? haha

Getting soooo excited about our apples!

Some different stages of Calendula that I'm drying for infused oil

Our first Green Bean harvest!

Wow he's lookin well fed in this pic!  Stay out of Mama's garden little boy!

After lunch we headed out for a bike ride...

Ben really enjoyed himself...

Colten LOVES the Trail-a-bike!  Lucky Jeromy has a pedel helper

The bike ride may have been more enjoyable had the trail been more flat.... ughhhh nice choice Jeromy... ughhhh I'm gonna be sore for days!  Could have done with out the angry dog charging us and the baby kickin me in the bum for most of the ride... All in all a great ride.... FEEL THE BURN!

Then to really make it worth the hard work we fueled up on Zoogs Caveman BBQ... a little traveling BBQ guy that parks himself at the Corner Store..... OH MAN is that some TASTY BBQ!  The whole family loves it!

Sunday:

Sunday morning was started off right.... with a big ol' cup of java and some homemade Buiscuts and Gravy (Jer's fav to make!) he's the gravy king... jus sayin!

Followed by some more wood splittin....

Followed by a trip to the Farmers Market!  We have decided that it will be a regular outting on Sundays!..... sooooo fun to check out all the local goods!

Ok obviously this picture was only a FOOD shot.... haha  Yep you guessed it Zoogs.... Shhhhhhh we really didn't have it two days in a row, I swear!  Ughhh

Ohhhh yum.... The root beer and ginger beer were soooooooooo good... my throat may still be burning from the ginger!

Ben's cool find at the farmers market..... a cat tail (the plant...)  you should have seen Colten's face when he asked me what it was and I told him it was a cat tail.... hahaha!

Our goods....Organic Corn on the cob, Yukon potatoes, Avocados, Yellow Squash, Tomato, Walla Walla Sweet Onion, Local Honey, Local Bees Wax, Alder Smoked Chili Garlic Shake, Lavender Lemon Soy candle and a Fall Harvest Soy Candle oh and some Pane D'Amore Organic Wheat Sourdough Bread (sorry it didn't make it in the picture) The pink bag was a total score from my "31" Party last friday!  Perfect for in the car... and also great at the Sunday Market!

There was some kind of old fashioned feelin, buyin food to cook for dinner right from the farmers.  We loved it and although we've gone to the farmers market in the past.... this time felt different.  Maybe it was because of the last post I wrote about wanting to do things like this regularly... I don't know it just felt good to spend our money for once!!

We're super excited to try the Chili Garlic Shake on our veggies tonight...

After dinner report:   Dinner was fantastic.... especially the mashed taters with the Alder Smoked Chili Garlic Shake!!

Dessert: Some of Mama's Homemade Banana Bon Bons.....

Check out my "Must Share Recipe" Page for Recipe
Plus a recipe for some super amazing granola bars that only take 5 ingredients! (Super awesome for school lunches/ or hubby lunches... Jus sayin!)
