Labor Day Camp Out...

So if you've been following my blog... you'd remember a post I did oh about 4 months ago.... Mother's Day weekend.... it was about a camping trip.  Well in that post I went on and on about how we'd take a break from camping as it was just tooooo much work with a baby...

Well somehow I was talked into another camp out!   and this time the plan was 3 or 4 days of camping in the only temperate rainforest in the Pacific Northwest (The Hoh Rainforest).... great a trip of no relaxing and in a rainforest... REALLY?  So lets see I prepared myself mentally for no down time, cranky whinny kids, rock eating, dirty kids, no sleep and last of all RAIN.... 

Thank goodness I had prepared myself for the worst.... as I had such a great time I actually didn't want to return home. 

Thursday I worked on packing... luckly I was down a kid, making this task much more efficiant. (Thanks Leicey HUGS)  Jeromy left work early (12:30) so we could get an early start with the the 3 hours of driving we had to do.  UGHHH!  One thing after another and Ben up from his nap, we were finally out the door around 3... sorry honey!

A stop at a friends for a totally necessary trailer component... (a drop hitch flipped over so we could stop draggin the front of our trailer all over town!) *ours was too low

A stop at Sunny Farms in Sequim for produce...

A stop at Walmart for other camping goods...

A stop at Frugals in PA.... because thier burgers are the BOMB! 

and we were on our way....

ok so now it's like 6... 

Just before Lake Cresent... looks like we're headin for sunshine...

We arrived at the campground around 9pm... Ben was sound asleep and Colten well he was ready to party...  We drove through the first loop of campspots and ran into our friends we'd be sharing the weekend with...  we settled on 2 spots next to each other and after much maneuvering in the dark we settled in for the night... Jer and Colten in the tent and me and Ben in the trailer... (that way if Ben decided to not sleep it would just be me lackin sleep the next day) 

 

Well what must you ask happens when you choose your site in the dead of night????  Welllll.... you wake up and find that you're campin right next to the DUMP Station!!! GREAT!!  So you do what every redneck camper does right??.... you relocate...

Colten playin with some friends...  We were lucky enough to find 3 sites all on the same loop that had trails to each other... perfect!

Yeah RAIN.... whatever this was the only cloud in the sky!!!! The weather was AMAZING!!!!  Higher than average temperatures for this time of the year! We totally lucked out!

Yeah wanna talk about a serious trailer...  One of the families we camped with was really roughin it!  Ceilin fans, 2 flat screen tvs, a full kitchen and even a garage in the back!  a 39 foot palace on wheels! 

Finally got the no nappin baby to sleep.... only took 3 laps...

All those toys and he just wants to play with an empty milk jug...

Even "Calvin" enjoys campin... our friends take their bird everywhere... He talks and sounds just like a human.... it's kinda creepy! haha

So the second night of sleep went great... Ben slept ALL night in his pack-n-play!  The 5:45 wake up call... not so great!   I always feel bad campin with my kids because we're usually the first ones up at the campground....

Ok so yeah this is what you would expect campin in a "Rain forest"... but give it until about 9am and WA LAA not a cloud in the sky... ok maybe a couple..

After our river walk we walked to the visitors center... and after walking out the door... ended up on a short hike... you know one of those well we'll just walk till we think we should turn around and next thing you know you end up doing the whole thing and have to carry both your kids... yep

Don't know if you've ever seen these while campin.... apparently their nicknamed "camp robbers" and for good reason!

Tell me that's not an insane shot!.... they are totally not scared of people...

I must say I've never eatin soooooooo good while campin!  Chicken fajitas, crazy delicious warm potato salad, pasta salads, fish, shrimp, fries, sweet corn, fruit platters, muffins, cookies, kabobs, corn beef hash.... it was amazin! 

Time to start packin up...

We have quite the little walker... Moms sooooo happy... much less rocks in the mouth this trip!

So after packing up which took for EVA!!! we headed down the road to do some more fishin with some friends!

What a fun time we had.... finally I think camping can be enjoyable!  I know there will be TONS of campin in our future. 

 

Sorry hubby for complaining pretty much to whole way to the campground...

The whole trip was nothing like I expected!  Lots of wonderful memories made and the whole family is excited for our next camp out! 

 

Just another reminder that my boys are growing up... it's getting easier to do things like camping... Thank goodness!
