What a blog title..right? well that's how I roll, you know!! It's just the crazy we call life... Soooo here's your recap of our past week
A little glimpse of our drive to school.... what an amazing SKY day! (sorry we don't see it all that often, but when we do its AMAZIN!)
This moment had to be documented... Colten and Noah sitting still with their hands in their laps.... PINCH ME!! is this a dream! haha
Colten's Preschool recently finished a reading campaign... They were sponsored by friends and family for each book they read...(that's the funny part actually, because Preschoolers don't know how to read quite yet) The school raised over $900 to purchase books to send to Guatemala.... you read that right $900!!! Thank you soooooo much friends and family we couldn't have done it with out you!

Aww yes my Sun loathing son, that will do anything to seek shade, even if it means eating under the picnic table.... who are you? Did you really come from my womb? must be a born in the Pacific Northwest thing... like you might as well shun it if it never shines... or somethin?!
See I was born and raised in sunny southern California... I'm a sun worshiper from way back!
Ahhh yes the drive home...

Our house is hiding behind those trees up there... you can kind of make out our new garden fence...
Ahhhh let the Calendula drying begin!!
Take that you stinkin deer... and yes what you may call an ugly garden, is the prettiest worm dwelling, weed free, mulched slice of garden around! Tons of reading and pondering lead me to tons of layers of newspaper and a bale of straw... next year my garden will be all raised beds... I'm sooooo over direct sowing into the earth... too many weeds, slugs, and did I mention weeds?!
The Romaine and Spinach seem to be happy...
I'm actually loving the contrast of color...
It not only keeps weeds at bay... but it holds in moisture, Moderates soil-temperature fluctuations (which we are totally experiencing right now!) plus it will break down and nourish the garden later!!!
Our sweet neighbors brought us some thorn less raspberry... the hubby on the fly created this awesome little spot on the back side of the garden... totally safe from hungry deer... he also hung twine from the roof for the peas to climb (he's a genius!)
Love when life returns to the garden with no effort on my part... well just the mulching effort!
Colten's been warned... unless you help with the garden this rock will quickly be removed and "Mama's" rock will take it's place... I think hope he gets it!

Colten and Ben keepin watch over our sicky chicken Izzy... poor girl, after a bit of research looks like she has a case of Vent Gleet... OMG sounds disgusting just saying it!!!!

A little Chicken farmer in training...
I can breath a sigh of relief... we finally have a net on the top of our run! Take that giant Eagles, falcons, buzzards, and crows!!!
Yeah so Vent Gleet... sorry I know you didn't wanna hear that again... well it requires cleaning, and evidently Chicken bathing is in my job description...

It wasn't my favorite, or hers obviously! or maybe she always looks like that?!

Then we blow dried her and kept her in a big box inside to make sure she dried out all the way. After a few days she appeared to be fine and she happily joined her little family again... The chickens are now on a plain yogurt regiment weekly to be sure to aid in healthy digestion and thus avoid nasty things like VENT GLEET!! (that was the last time I swear!)
Our last week of Spring soccer... Our coach has been out of town so Jeromy's been the stand in coach, he did an amazing job (I thought at least!) and he's pretty bummed soccer's over! Colten can't wait til Fall!
Ok the the news we've all been waiting for..... we've talked and talked and read and decided that if we wanted baby chicks we'd like them to just do it the natural way... well we may have found our girl... it may be hard to see in this picture but there's 3 chickens in that one nesting box... yep 3! Millie one of our small chickens is on the bottom (she's black and gold) she appears to be the girl that went what they call "broody" or took the natural calling to sit on the eggs! and these two other "Betty's" well they just wanted to lay an egg... so they climbed in on top of her!! Hahaha! We'll cross our fingers and try to come up with a way to block off this part of the coop so she can have her own "space" and in 21 days we just might have a few new members of the family!!! What a fun adventure this has been so far!
