We'll remember this December... squirrels storing nuts in our woodshed, pirate shinanigans, tree hunting, an elfing... just the most wonderful time of the year

Harvey Frank McDuffy...

Our woodshed dwelling furry friend!

Amazing how close I got before he warned me with his siren squeaks!

My hard workin, never stopping, never complainin, rock of a wonderful husband!

Thank you for keepin us warm this time of year!

Judge away... we love our elf!
This year he's left little notes for the boys to read each morning... encouraging acts of kindness for others.
I've read plenty of nonsense posts about the "Elf" and let me just say... if your kids misbehave (all kids do!) the little Elf is not going to be your saving grace... DUH!  Kids will still be kids!  I'm more about the "magic" of the season and we live in such a negative cruel harsh world these days, that a little extra magic is ok in my book!

For when the hubby asks you what you did today...
Well I was the captain of this here boat....
Captain Negasis was my official pirate name (thanks Colten)
Colten named himself First Mate John Blitz (good right?!)
and Ben, he named himself Farmer Jed
We sailed the stormy seas in search of our island fort, where we made "plastic" pizza and "plastic" potatoes and then had our fort invaded by a popcorn eating raccoon, we sent our foxes after them and then returned to our ship to sail another day...
My favorite is when your kids look at you like you've lost your mind...
(this happens often, but it helps to build character... right?!)

You know just anther day as a stay at home mom!

Every pirate ship needs a naked fox farmer right?

While little brother napped big brother and I had some quiet time sippin on hot coco and watching the snow flurries

Finn enjoyed watching too!

After Papa got home we headed out to pick out this years tree!

We were all quite excited!

Friends of ours told us about their favorite place and we just had to check it out!
We've usually takin the old fashioned tradition and paid the $5 for a tree permit and trekked up in the mountains for the most perfect imperfect Charlie brown tree...
But after spending $20 in fuel and white knuckling the entire trip I decided we could start a new tradition!  Besides last years tree was bought at a tree stand... so perfect time to start something new!

Crocker lake freezing over... I'm tellin you we might as well be in Alaska!

Nothin quite like pickin out your tree in the snow!

Ben was in Awe... he wanted the little tree for his room!

Flocking was free! haha

LOVE!

oh we mustin forget that 5 year old SASS...

I know it's awful getting your picture taken with your Mom... I'm feelin the love!
I'm also lovin the sticks... gives it a nice touch Colten!

Fine I'll just stand here by myself!
Should have gotten one with Jeromy but he was busy cutting our tree down with a pocket knife!  HAHA! The tree farm owner had a little saw but it ran out of juice... so Jeromy sawed away and almost had it down before the sweet old man came back to finish it off!

Hey it kinda resembles the mountains right... if I photoshop the power lines out!

Picture Perfect!

Bear was just the sweetest tree farm dog ever!  Lots of loves and licks! (poor Ben is right at licking height!)
MOM- Ben called him Tippy more than once!

Thanks to Dick (the tree farm owner) for this great picture!  It only took 3 attempts, my camera was getting the better of the poor guy!  We finally figured out that it was because my flash was trying to pop open and his baseball cap was stopping it, causing an error message!  But we got it!

Ben was pretty proud of his rock star hat hair!

Serious man work!

My heart is just so loving the holiday spirit of this little 5 year old!  He's totally my kid, and I'm soooo excited to have someone to share all my jolly Christmas cheer with!
Christmas Cheer...Check
Great fashion sense... we're workin on it! haha
Hey their both strips right...

Soo much magic...

Sooo very fun to have so much help this year!

Breath Taking!  Maybe we're a little skimpy on lights at the top... Papa may need to fix this!

Drum roll Please.....

and she's done!

My very favorite place to lay when I was little too... right under the tree!

I love seeing Christmas through their eyes... warms my heart and makes me love being their Mom that much more...

But only for a day... and only on the weekend... and enough to go sledding in
I know, but there are conditions to loving snow...

Lucky shot or staged... I'll never tell

Ben finding the perfect location for his ornament..

I KNOW HIM!

Wow that's a tired Santa!

Ben...Still workin on that placement!  It's gotta be just right you know!

Simple Beauty... I have a thing for it!

Elves like tractors too!

Ben is quite the lego builder... he was soooo proud of his morning creations

Post nap day after getting the tree... he's still trying the find the perfect location for that ornament!

Christmas totally threw up on the tree in Colten's room!  He's extremely fond of his tree! Again his decorating sense didn't come from me... (I hope)

I'm thinkin we should have just left them up from last year... I feel bad, it's barely 30 out there, and they've been in twice to dethaw!

Hope you're feelin the magic of the season, drinkin lots of hot coco, savoring the little moments with your kiddos, realizing how fast time flies, slowing down and taking it all in, stayin warm, making cookies, playing pirates and finding your inner child!

Merry Christmas to you all!
