Another Weekend... Some more memories to share

Ok so time for another weekend rewind...

All week we kept an eye on that weather report, hoping that some kind of April miracle would occur and we would have a sunny weekend for a possible first camping trip of the season.

Then we woke up and remembered where we live and that we weren't really prepared to go camping this weekend anyways.

So unpreparedness, paired with wet conditions, paired with a baby who caught yet another cold would not have made for a great season opener.

So a spark of spontaneity took us to Hurricane Ridge Friday afternoon.  It being a free National Parks week, we couldn't pass up the chance to get into one of our many favorite places for free.

The park ranger at the main entrance informed us of the conditions at the top of the mountain... 32 degrees, high winds and snow showers.  Why, oh why did this sound like fun? I'm not sure... I was suffering from what felt like the onset of a head cold.  I know I was set to be exposed to 20 plus minutes of an extremely winding road only to reach the top in blizzard like conditions... yipeeee I did however suck it up to make sure the rest of the family had a good time.

The views from the top were worth it all, I think at least... you really couldn't keep your eyes open long enough to really see much with the pieces of snow flying at your face at super sonic speeds.  The baby wasn't all that impressed and Colten was begging for you guessed it "Food"  so after walking around in the little lodge and attempting to watch the little 20 minute movie about the Mountain we decided to head out.

Jeromy said we needed a picture with the view... great ok I cant even see and you want us to smile for the camera... you're funny.  So this is what you get..

The rest of Friday was spent grocery shopping... pretty uneventful from what I recall.

On to Saturday.

After not feeling well Friday and Ben being a little snot monster we sent Jeromy and Colten out for a day at the Expo.

Yet another mom fail with the camera... battery was dead.  So Colten took his camera... you're gonna love these shots.

The Arrival Shot..

Gotta love the BIG pink slide!

How fun to run into one of your friends at Expo!

One of many LEG shots! haha

Why hello!

Do we know these people?

Love this one... good job Papa!
So after eating donuts for lunch, take a picture with a real life "Tow Mater". riding the slide until Papa ran out of money, watching some trucks race through the mud Colten got... you guessed it "Hungry" so it was time for them to head home.

Since being unable to go camping this weekend... Jeromy decided we should at least do some home campin.  So him and Colten took Candy Land, some snacks and some sleeping bags down to the trailer to "rough it" for the night.

I had my own night of "roughin it" thanks to the icky sicky Ben.  I was up most of the night, trying to combat the never ending snot production.

Okay then... Moving on...

Sunday was a day of this and that.  Colten went to "Bobbies" (aka Grandmas) and the rest of us hung out at home, worked in the garden a bit and did some house chores.  Oh and I made the third trial run of my new cookie recipe... I'll be blogging about that soon... It's almost ready.

Sunday night was moms turn for camping out.  I thought this would be my ticket to a night of more sleep... don't know who I was kiddin.  Colten snored like a freight train all night.. He tossed and he turned and he kicked... then some dog started barking... ughhh what's a person gotta do to get some sleep around here?  He was up at 5 because.... he was hungry and he'd already eaten the banana we brought with us before he woke me up...

I asked how Jeromy's night with Ben went... he says "Don't ask" so I automatically assumed he meant it was awful and he hardly slept.  Well actually this meant "Don't ask" because he only woke up once and I don't want you to be mad that I got some sleep! Oh for the love of Pete you've gotta be kiddin me..

Jeromy happened to have Monday off as well and well we didn't do much of anything...

I spent the better part of the day picking out birthday invitations for a certain little boy who's turning 4 in a little over a month...

Ben thought driving Papa's truck was super awesome!  How fun I have almost this very same picture of Colten...

Made another tinkered batch of "My Signature" cookies... These might be the winners! My testers gave these ones a 10..

Colten and Jeromy headed to the lake for some fishing.. I was informed that they saw a fish jump but they didn't catch it.  I was also told that when Jeromy was teaching Colten how to cast, Colten let go of his pole instead of just the casting button... haha I guess a guy fishing a little ways down the shore watched this all happen and nearly fell into the lake he was laughing soo hard... Gosh I wish I had been there with my CAMERA.

So now that it's Tuesday... It's time to publish this... ughhh another week of rain... well that's why it's soooo beautiful here and why we appreciate the sunny days... Right?..
